Frequently Asked Questions

Who runs Dark Red Designs?

I'm Nick, based in Hawthorn East, Melbourne. What started as a hobby — a love of making things and seeing results — has grown into a fully equipped commercial operation with a range of printers and filaments.

What file formats do you accept?

I accept STL, 3MF, OBJ, and STEP files. You can also link to a model on Makerworld, Printables, or Thingiverse.

What materials do you work with?

I currently print exclusively in PETG — a strong, durable, and versatile material suitable for most applications. I carry a growing range of colours that you can browse when requesting a quote.

Can I choose a colour?

Yes! When you submit a quote request, you can pick from my available filaments. I’m always adding new colours to the range.

What’s the maximum print size?

My current build volume supports parts up to 240 × 240 mm.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimum — I’m happy to print a single part or a full batch run.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on size, material, complexity, and quantity. Request a quote and I’ll get back to you with a detailed estimate.

What happens after I submit a quote?

I’ll review your request and reach out if I have any clarifying questions. Once I have everything I need, I’ll email you a quote with pricing, estimated timeframe, and payment details. After payment is received, I’ll schedule the print and ship it as soon as it’s done. I accept PayPal, PayID, and bank transfer.

How long does a typical project take?

Most single-part prints ship within 3–7 business days. Larger or more complex projects may take longer — I’ll provide a timeline with your quote.

How does shipping work?

I ship Australia-wide via Australia Post. Standard delivery is typically 2–5 business days. Local pickup is also available in Hawthorn East, Melbourne.

Can you design a part from scratch?

I’m set up for printing rather than design — you’ll need to supply a model file or a link to one. If you’ve found something on Makerworld, Printables, or Thingiverse, just include the link in your quote request and I’ll take it from there.
